Deformity Correction
Limb Lengthening
And Deformity Correction
Deformity correction is the surgical adjustment or modification of bone that grows incorrectly as the result of a disease or condition, such as bowlegs or knock knees. Corrective surgery may also be used for conditions in which the hands, fingers, arms, legs, knees or ankles grow at incorrect angles or lengths.
Deformities can be corrected in two different ways:
All at once during a surgical procedure (called an acute correction)
Slowly over the course of several weeks or months (called a gradual correction)
Limb lengthening is a new innovative procedure that involves surgical lengthening of bone after creation of a hairline fracture
